Minister for Tourism Clayton Bartolo, Malta Film Commissioner Johann Grech, and Russell Crowe Visit Final Preparations of Indoor Garden Party in Valletta


Valletta, Malta – June 16, 2023.

In the lead-up to the inaugural Mediterrane Film Festival, Malta is set to host Russell Crowe’s Indoor Garden Party on June 17 at Pjazza San Ġorġ in Valletta. The concert will feature Crowe’s band, The Gentlemen Barbers, along with special guests Janet Devlin and Lorraine O’Reilly, and local artists Ivan Grech, Ira Losco, and Beth.

The Indoor Garden Party, a brainchild of Russell Crowe and Alan Doyle, is a gathering of songwriters, singers, and musicians who play occasional gigs throughout the US. The Mediterrane Film Festival will take place between June 25 and 30, showcasing diverse stories and talents from nine Mediterranean

Minister for Tourism Clayton Bartolo said, “This event is a statement to Malta’s growing influence in the global film and music industry. We are thrilled to welcome international artists and showcase our local talent to the world.”

Malta Film Commissioner Johann Grech stated, “Russell Crowe’s love for our island is well-known, and it’s reciprocated by the people of Malta. His Indoor Garden Party celebrates this mutual affection and demonstrates the strong connections between Malta and the global film industry.”

Russell Crowe shared his affection for Malta, saying, “It’s an amazing place. The buildings, the piazzas, the people, I want to keep coming back. I feel like I’m everybody’s uncle. He stated that “The Malta Film Commission is doing an amazing job. They’re staying up with technology and promoting Malta internationally”.

The Mediterrane Film Festival aims to foster collaboration, growth, and opportunity for filmmakers
while promoting Malta’s rich cultural heritage and its role as a world-class film hub. The Mediterrane
Film Festival is set to be an annual event celebrating the diverse stories, talents, and cultures of nine
Mediterranean countries.
