Malta, often described as an open-air museum, sits between Sicily and the African continent. It is a cultural hub festooned with remnants from previous rulers and historical artefacts.
Covering an area of just 316km2, the Maltese Archipelago, is made up of six islands, making it one of the smallest in the world but also one of the most densely populated. Its 430,000 inhabitants live on the three biggest islands; Malta, Gozo and Comino.
Being the largest of the three, Malta is the administrative and commercial hub of the Islands. On the other hand, Gozo, is more rural and better known for its fishing, tourism, crafts and agriculture. Comino, the smallest of the three, is largely uninhabited and is a popular destination for tourist’s due to its picturesque landscape and crystal-clear waters.
